June Garden update

Potatoes looking good. I planted these early on before the garden was even tilled properly. My lack of patience also led me to  dig them up too soon as well, thankfully not all of them. I did get a whole tray full, but the skins were thin and we had to eat them right away. They were yummy though.

This is supposed to be spinach. I know small and tall. I will try these again in a more shady spot. Don't laugh at all the grass and weeds. It rained for several days straight. I got this covered. On either side of the spinach were radishes and carrots, neither of which did well. Again. I think these plants will do much better in partial shade.

This is where I planted my watermelon. you can't see very well but the watermelon is actually doing really good with all the rain. Hence the name "water"melon. lol

This is where my peas are planted. I have never grown peas before and I might dare to say they are doing just fine. In fact I have already pulled off a pod or two and they are delicious. I just hope they keep growing. I added these bamboo stakes and some twine to encourage the pea plants to grow up. Some are catching on, others not so much. We will see.

another view of my pea plants. There are also a few peppers and a summer squash. This was supposed to be my "Indian experiment" garden which turned out to be an epic fail. The corn never came up and I had to replant all of the peas. So I went for traditional and added some peppers and another summer squash (at least I think it is a summer squash)

Tomato is doing fine :)

This is my squash plants doing great. I don't remember what kind of squash I lost all of my markers in the torrential rains we have had of late so this will be a surprise. In the background are some peppers and my sunflowers. the sunflowers were growing like a champ until the local deer decided they were delicious. Ugh, stupid deer. Deer, you are beautiful to look at but you need to stay out of my garden.

Here is a picture of the plot where my spinach is, I have begun to ho the plot and uncover the strangling plants. In the foreground are brocoli plants. I think they are doing well, I have never planted these before so I have nothing to judge them on but they keep growing. In the middle are my spinach plants and in the background are squash and corn, out of twelve plants only 6 sprouted and out of those six, the deer left me with three. I need a better plan for the deer problem.
